About the boat
Matador is a Greg Elliott-designed 44-foot racing cruiser built by Elliott Marine in New Zealand. She is IRC-optimised with a medium beam, stable hull form and minimal wetted surface. Generous freeboard and topside flare provide dry and comfortable sailing even in heavy weather, while the fractional sloop rig allows easy handling that switches quickly into race mode.
Under Jonas Grander's campaign, Matador has raced internationally in events including the Rolex Fastnet Race, Rolex Middle Sea Race, Newport Bermuda Race, and the Sydney Hobart — building a strong record under both ORCi and IRC rating systems.
